You can't just grow your own organic mango, passion fruit, pomegranate and kiwi in Essex. Some of us have exotic mouths to feed.

We do that too but it's hard to get the planting right to get a steady supply.

Feast and famine.

Re: ALDI / LIDL
ALDI/LIDL are great news for the consumer with the competition they bring. The best part being that it's not just about price. The likes of Tesco have forgotten that
VALUE = PRICE x QUALITY.

hopefully it will focus the minds of the bigger food retailers.

Wow! Didn't know that Ted.

I'm not far from there, not sure it's happened yet. Feb seems a long time ago, wonder if it's fallen through :-(

Re: ALDI / LIDL
I've got a choice of Lidl and Aldi near me but they are always so busy any time of the day that I can't be arsed to queue up with the great unwashed and their screaming children - when I have managed to get to one when it's not so busy I've found the things I've bought as good as any other and better value

LIDL is to open its first store in Colchester, creating 40 jobs.

The budget supermarket chain is set to open a 20,000 sq ft store in Gosbecks Road.

It ends speculation surrounding the site, which had been on the market for more than a year.

The site is home to a Colchester Borough Homes depot and the Colchester Wine Company, which is due to relocate.

Colchester Council’s cabinet is set to agree to sell its part, the depot, for an undisclosed sum next week.
